With lots of super exciting movie and game releases on the horizon, here’s just a few of our highlights for the year ahead.
The Suicide Squad
Originally directed by David Ayer, some of you may remember the Suicide Squad which divided us in 2016? Well years later, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has taken the reigns for a new standalone film, titled The Suicide Squad. Confusing, eh? Set to release in August 2021 with the mischievous bunch of supervillains making their comeback, they join the ultra-violent but loveable Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie. It’s a must-see if you like us just can’t get enough of your supervillains.
Following multiple postponed release dates, Black Widow aka Natasha Romanoff (aka Scarlett Johansson) has kicked her way into the new year, with a release date of May 2021. The film is set to - as officially described by Disney - ‘confront the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises’, outlining Black Widow’s true back-story. Intrigued? Us too. We’ve even got the Black Widow Cable Guy to match.
Sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home and prequel to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, excitement is already building… and it’s only January. The movie is set to see the return of Peter Parker and his supporting cast, while Jamie Foxx reprises his role as Electro, and as seen in Spider-Man 2, Alfred Molina as Doc Ock. Plot details are few and far between right now, but we hear it could be Sony and Marvel’s biggest collaboration yet. Can we say roll on December?

Halo Infinite is set to arrive later this year and the delayed release date will have undoubtedly led to a better game. It certainly brings a lot to look forward to.
For those who grew up playing the game, we imagine your thoughts might be like ours – we’re hoping for a game which is based much on Master Chief, with a single-player focus, showcasing the amazing things the Xbox Series X and S are capable of – whilst also being visually stunning. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for further teases surrounding the gameplay and multiplayer, but in the meantime, you can find us re-playing Halo: Combat Evolved in the run up to autumn.
Who’s got their Master Chief Infinite Cable Guy ahead of the new release? Kudos to you!
A story of a group of ancient immortal beings who have been living in secret on Earth. Full of huge names, Marvel’s newest super-team includes Angelina Jolie as warrior Thena and Game of Thrones star Richard Madden as Ikaris. We also see Salma Hayek as Ajak, Kingo played by Kumail Nanjiani and Phastos; by the renown Bollywood film star Brian Tyree Henry. And what exactly are The Eternals you ask? Created around five million years ago, they’re the race which evolved from the same ancestors as humans. Created from genetic experiments by The Celestials (or cosmic space gods) are responsible for Earth’s Eternals and Deviant race who are nearly at war one another. Despite another postponed release date, we’re pretty excited to see what this latest super-team has in store come November.
