Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

Whilst we begin pre-loading Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War ahead of its release on Friday 13 Novemberand having read countless articles and teasers over the past few months, it got us at EXG thinking about what we are looking forward to most! We’ve rounded up our highlights ahead of the release, and we’d love to know the features that have got you most excited too.

Cold War setting

Unlike Modern Warfare taking place in today’s world, and Black Ops with its futuristic approach, Cold War transports us back in time. A sequel to the original Black Ops, the game is set in the 80s Cold War eraso - no boosters, thrusters, or running stamina systems. Everything appears to be more natural than previous titles; Sprint Take-off gives us a running start, before slowing down – just like in real life. Footstep Control is determined by the pace, impacting the volume – so crouching will make you silent. This no-nonsense approach is gonna feel relatable and real, and we’re ready for it!

Scorestreaks

Back for Cold War, Scorestreaks will continue building and the biggest change this year is that you no longer lose progress if you die, so instead of trying to conserve and defend streaks, players will be inclined to take risks and attack. And with 21 different streaks to help us and our teammates defeat the enemy, we can’t wait to see how this change might boost our stats without the need to re-set.

Compatibility with next-gen technology

If, like us, you’re going to be playing on the next-gen of technology – the PS5 and Xbox Series X, Activision has confirmed how Cold War has been enhanced for the latest software. Running at 4K with High Dynamic Range on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X, alongside 120hz support and ray-tracing tech, the game is also set to feature next-gen 3D audio for the most immersive experienceThis precise sound placement will enable us (and players) to accurately determine our surroundings, ensuring we remain most alert by listening to the sounds which will impact our success during multi-player battle!

Integration with Warzone

Not only will we be able to play with friends across PC, PlayStation and Xbox, but as fans will know, players will also get to experience cross-progression, so players can carry profiles overalong with progression and stats tied to their Activision account. As huge fans of Warzone, the possibility of switching between platforms and different generations without losing progression is very welcomeCall of Duty: Warzone will become a hub for both Cold War and Modern Warfare, acting as a middle ground that brings together the two games’ content. Players will have access to operators, loadouts, weapons plus more – all divided within the game’s menuThe full integration will come in December, but we’re happy to wait!

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will run on the PS4, Xbox One, PC and the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X.
