Much like many of you, we're also fans of the unlikely kid hero who turns into a fully adult-looking, God-like Wizard when he utters the name "Shazam" out loud and, thankfully, we'll soon be graced with a brand-new film to enjoy it too! (Relatively soon, okay.)
Maintaining the same cast as before, including Zachary Levi as Shazam and Asher Angel as Billy Batson, the chosen vessel for role of Wizard.
Taking a side-step away form the comic book story-arc overall, Shazam! Fury of the Gods will bring the realm of the Gods to life on-screen, whilst also introducing characters and entities based on Greek mythology, including the Sisters of Atlas themselves.
Now, we're aware that this isn't exactly how things go down in DC Comics at all; Hespera (Helen Mirren) and Kalypso (Lucy Liu), who appear to be inspired by nymphs from Greek mythology, were antagonists specifically created for the film, but they are cast as daughter of Atlas who is not only a Greek mythology approved, but also a character from the DC Universe who features as one of Shazam's adversaries. Could this be a hint of his move from comic book pages and onto the screen? Time will tell.
Alongside Calypso and Hespera, we will also be introduced to Antaeus (Rachel Zegler), the third daughter of Atlas and also not from either Greek mythology or DC Comics.
It'll be really interesting how they'll merge both elements of Greek mythology and DC Comics storylines into this movie-verse of for Shazam, but we're excited to see how it all comes together!
Are you excited for this combo?
