After its cancellation last October the New York Comic Con welcomed comic book lovers to the Javits Centre this year to celebrate all things comics, anime and gaming. A smaller affair than usual, it featured a variety of stands to enchant its fans.
Although it felt like a return to normality, there were obvious signs of the impact the last year has had on these types of events. Unlike previous years its attendees were required to wear a mask and provide proof of vaccination on admission and, although fans were still able to meet their heroes, this time it had to be through a clear partition. Among the attending celebrities were the likes of Star Trek's George Takei and William Shatner, author Sam Maggs, voice actor Johnny Yong Bosch, Black Widow and Stranger Things actor David Harbour, and many others.
Although it wasn't as packed as the prior events, those attending felt like it gave them an opportunity to get into the swing of the hustle and bustle of in-person events.
